For decades, SCHMIDT’SCHE® Process Gas Boilers (PGB) have been the cornerstone of efficient steam reforming in hydrogen, methanol and ammonia applications. Ensuring optimal cooling, maximum heat transfer, and enhanced system reliability.

Utilizing advanced flexible tube sheet technology, our PGBs prevent excessive stress and deformation in the tube-to-tube sheet connection, improving both performance and service life. Designed to handle high-pressure, high-temperature conditions, our boilers provide consistent cooling and reliable operation, even under extreme thermal stresses.

Each SCHMIDT’SCHE® PGB is a custom-engineered solution, optimized to meet the demanding requirements of steam reforming processes. While each unit is tailored to fit specific needs, the core of the SCHMIDT’SCHE® PGB is built on exceptional efficiency, durability, and unmatched performance.

SCHMIDT’SCHE® Process Gas Boiler (PGB)

High Performance, Maximum Lifetime and Reliability.

At the core of our SCHMIDT’SCHE® Process Gas Boiler (PGB) design is a combination of advanced features that ensure reliable operation and optimized efficiency. The flexible tube sheet design prevents excessive stress and thermal expansion, providing superior protection for critical components and extending the lifespan of the boiler.

To prevent corrosion and metal dusting, we use crevice-free welding and specialized ferrules for enhanced protection of the tube inlet areas. This approach improves both heat transfer and long-term durability, even under the harshest conditions.

The Cold Bypass Design ensures effective temperature control, preventing metal dusting by maintaining temperatures outside the critical corrosion range. This innovative design ensures optimal gas flow, maximizing efficiency and minimizing wear.

With over 30 years of expertise, SCHMIDTSCHE SCHACK continues to lead in Process Gas Boiler (PGB) technology, delivering high performance, reduced maintenance, and increased operational stability.

Innovative Heat Transfer

For Maximum Efficiency and Longevity.

SCHMIDT'SCHE® Process Gas Boiler
The SCHMIDT’SCHE® Process Gas Boiler (PGB) is a high-performance solution designed for efficient heat recovery and reliable operation in steam reforming applications. Featuring a flexible tube sheet design and advanced cooling technologies, it maximizes heat transfer while ensuring optimal protection for critical components. Typically, one or more PGBs are installed per furnace, integrated into the overall steam reforming process for optimal efficiency.

The PGB is designed to withstand high gas temperatures and pressures, with crevice-free welding ensuring durability and protection against corrosion. The system features advanced bypass designs for effective gas outlet temperature control, preventing metal dusting and ensuring stable operation.

Your Benefits
The SCHMIDT’SCHE® Vertical Process Gas Boiler (PGB) is a high-performance solution developed in collaboration with CASALE, a leader in ammonia, methanol, and syngas production technologies. Specifically designed to address reliability issues in conventional waste heat boilers, this innovative boiler is based on our proven Double Tube & Oval Header Technology.

The Vertical PGB features coaxial double tubes welded to horizontal oval headers, allowing for flexible accommodation of thermal expansion and contraction. This robust design prevents common issues such as tube sheet stress, sludge deposition, erosion, and vibration-induced overheating. By using crevice-free welding for the inner and outer tubes, the design ensures corrosion resistance, particularly preventing crevice corrosion in the welded joints.

Your Benefits
SCHMIDT’SCHE® Steam Superheaters are our heat transfer solution for maximizing the efficiency of industrial plants.

Saturated steam exiting the steam drum may need to be superheated depending on the individual process characteristics. In order to achieve this, a superheater is installed e.g. downstream of a process gas boiler or a syngas cooler.

Your Benefits

SCHMIDT’SCHE® Synloop Boiler are exposed to very high operating pressures, resulting in huge mass flow densities
and thermal heat fluxes.

The synthesis gas, consisting essentially of hydrogen, nitrogen and ammonia, is under pressures of 200 to 250 bar (2,901 to 3,626 PSI). In the waste heat boiler, the synthesis gas is cooled down from approx. 450 °C (842 °F) to approx. 340 °C (644 °F) whereby high pressure saturated steam of about 120 to 140 bar (1,740 to 2,013 PSI) is produced.

SCHMIDTSCHE SCHACK’s competence in engineering and highly qualified manufacturing guarantees the required high quality of the synloop boiler.
